The content manager has the operational responsibility for the department’s website. All departments and units defined as departments must have one content manager.
This role description also applies to the content managers at the University Library. They have one content manager for each of the units under the library. When departments are referred to, this also includes units at the library, even though they are not defined as departments.
Role description
The content manager is the editor for the department’s web pages, which involves quality assuring the content on all web pages belonging to the department.
The role is part of the faculty’s local web editorial board and reports professionally directly to the web editor at the faculty.
The content manager also represents the department in other networks related to uib.no.
Authority
The content manager at a department has the authority to:
- In dialogue with the faculty’s web editor, decide who will be content producers at the department.
- Approve or reject content created by content producers at the department.
- Require content producers at the department to follow the management plan, content strategy and other guidelines for web publishing and communication.
- Be responsible for the content on the department’s transport pages.
- Escalate matters that cannot be resolved locally to the web editor at the faculty.
Responsibilities
Editorial responsibility and content
- Be operationally responsible, editorially, for all websites belonging to the department. This includes quality assuring texts, images, videos and other content. Both Norwegian and English web pages must comply with the content strategy and other guidelines for web publishing.
- Conduct an annual review of the content on the department’s web pages.
Organisation and training
- Have an overview of who are content producers at the unit.
- Ensure that content producers have completed mandatory basic training in W4 before being granted editing access.
- Participate in meetings with the local web editorial board led by the faculty’s web editor.
- Report needs to the web editor at the faculty and ensure that information from there is distributed to all content producers at the unit.
- Participate in competence-building initiatives and web forums.
